BTS is one of the most popular K-pop groups in the world, with a massive global fanbase. They rose to fame in the early 2010s and have since broken numerous records, including becoming the first Korean act to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group consists of 7 members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
With their meteoric rise in popularity, BTS members have started getting personal social media accounts to connect more directly with fans. This has included platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Weverse and YouTube. Recently, some members have even created their own TikTok accounts.
This raises the question – which BTS members currently have TikTok accounts?
Jungkook on TikTok
Jungkook of BTS joined TikTok in September 2022 under the account @abcdefghi__lmnopio. He has quickly amassed over 10 million followers on the platform. Jungkook has posted various dance videos, behind the scenes clips, and other fun content for fans.
On September 25, 2022, Jungkook posted his first TikTok video, which was a clip of him dancing to Drake’s song “Massive” along with the caption “First tiktok”. The video received over 30 million views and 7 million likes within the first few days.
Since joining TikTok, Jungkook has shared videos showcasing his dance skills, singing talents, and playful personality. His TikToks provide a candid look at his life on tour and interactions with fans. Jungkook’s TikTok presence allows him to connect with fans in a more personal way.
J-Hope on TikTok
J-Hope, one of the members of BTS, joined TikTok in December 2021 under the username @uarmyhope. He was the second BTS member to create a TikTok account after Jungkook (source). On his TikTok page, J-Hope shares behind-the-scenes dance practices and clips from BTS music videos. His fun, energetic dance videos quickly gained popularity among ARMY members on the platform.
As of February 2023, J-Hope’s TikTok account has over 8 million followers. Many of his most popular TikToks showcase his impressive freestyle dancing skills. For example, one video of him dancing to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” gained over 17 million views (source). He also posts TikToks showing off his bright and quirky personality through meme sketches and comedic videos.
J-Hope utilizes TikTok as a way to share his passion for dance and positively interact with fans. His account gives an inside look at his daily life and creative process as a member of BTS. Through TikTok, J-Hope is able to express himself, connect with ARMY, and share his talent as a performer.
Jimin
Jimin is one of the lead vocalists and main dancers of BTS. He does not currently have his own personal TikTok account. Jimin’s nickname is Dooly and he is known for his impressive dance skills and sweet vocals. Although Jimin often appears in other BTS members’ TikTok videos, especially Jungkook’s, he has not made his own TikTok account. Fans often search for a TikTok account under Jimin’s name or variations like Park Jimin and @jimiin but only find fan accounts or TikToks of Jimin posted by BTS members. Some of Jimin’s most popular dances and moments have gone viral on TikTok through fan edits and reposts, earning hundreds of millions of views, but these are not posted by Jimin himself. While many ARMY hope that Jimin will create his own TikTok in the future, he currently does not have an official personal account on the platform.
Jin
Jin is the oldest member of BTS at 29 years old. He goes by the full name Kim Seokjin. Despite BTS’ popularity on TikTok, Jin himself does not have his own personal TikTok account. While there are many fan accounts dedicated to Jin on TikTok that use “Jin” in their usernames, Jin has not created his own account.
Jin tends to be more private about his personal life compared to some other BTS members. While he is very active on Weverse interacting with fans, Jin has chosen not to have his own social media accounts beyond the official BTS accounts. As of this writing, he relies on the other BTS members to sometimes post videos including him on their own accounts.
BTS has an official TikTok account with over 32 million followers that includes content with all the members, including Jin. However, Jin has opted not to open his own solo TikTok account to share more personal behind-the-scenes glimpses into his daily life and interests.
While many fans would undoubtedly love to see Jin share more of his talents like cooking, joking around, and singing on TikTok, he has so far decided not to create his own personal account. Unless Jin changes his mind in the future, fans will have to be content with the Jin content posted to the official BTS TikTok account and fan pages dedicated to him.
RM
RM, whose full name is Kim Nam-joon, does not have his own personal TikTok account. There are some fan accounts on TikTok that use his name and photos, such as @namjoon.official.page, but these are not run by RM himself. The official BTS TikTok account is run by Big Hit Music and features content with all the BTS members, including RM. However, RM himself does not currently have a TikTok account under his own name or management.
RM has focused more on platforms like Twitter and Instagram for his own social media engagement with fans. He does not seem to have plans to create his own TikTok at this time. While many ARMY hope that RM will join TikTok someday, he has not indicated anything official about starting his own TikTok account. For now, fans can enjoy his appearances on the official BTS TikTok, but he does not have his own personal account on the platform.
V
V, whose full name is Kim Taehyung, is one of the most popular members of BTS. However, unlike some of his fellow bandmates, V does not currently have his own personal TikTok account. While there are many fan accounts on TikTok dedicated to V, posting clips and compilations of his best moments, V himself has not joined the platform.
Fans often search for “V TikTok account” hoping to find his official page, but are disappointed to find he hasn’t created one yet. There are many TikTok videos with the hashtag #V, showing his singing, dancing, and funny moments on stage and in interviews. But these are posted by fans, not V himself.
Some of V’s bandmates like Jungkook and J-Hope do have TikTok accounts which they actively post on. But V has chosen not to join TikTok at this time, instead focusing on platforms like Instagram and Twitter to connect with ARMY. While fans would undoubtedly love to see V share behind-the-scenes moments on TikTok, for now they will have to follow him on other social media sites.
Suga
Suga does not have a personal verified TikTok account. There is an unofficial fan account called @suga.official.page that has over 9,000 likes and 20,000 followers on TikTok, but this is not an official account run by Suga himself (TikTok, 2022). Suga is not currently active on TikTok with his own personal account and has not joined the platform. When searching TikTok for “BTS Suga”, you will find many fan videos and edits about him, but no verified account run by the artist himself (TikTok, 2022).
As of now, Suga does not have a presence on TikTok under his own name or a verified account, unlike some other members of BTS such as Jungkook and J-Hope who are active on the platform. This may change in the future, but as of 2022 Suga himself does not have a TikTok account.
Conclusion
Of the 7 members of BTS, 2 currently have TikTok accounts – Jungkook and J-Hope. Jungkook shares fun dancing videos and behind-the-scenes clips on his account. J-Hope is known for posting energetic dance challenges and positive messages for fans. While the other BTS members like Jin, Jimin, RM, V, and Suga do not yet have personal TikTok accounts, they occasionally make appearances in videos posted by Jungkook and J-Hope. Given TikTok’s popularity and the creative opportunities it offers, it’s very possible we could see more individual BTS members join the platform in the future. For now, Jungkook and J-Hope are representing BTS on TikTok and giving fans an inside look into their lives.
