This article provides steps for how to find someone from TikTok on Facebook. With over 1 billion monthly active users on TikTok and 2.7 billion on Facebook, many people use both platforms. The goal of this article is to explain the various methods available to locate a TikTok user on Facebook when you only know their profile on one platform.
Search by Name
The most straightforward way to find someone on Facebook is to search for their name or username. Go to the search bar at the top of Facebook and type in the person’s full name. Facebook will show results for people with matching names. If you know the exact spelling of their name, you can put it in quotation marks to search for that exact phrase (e.g. “John Smith”).
If the person has a unique Facebook username, search for their username instead of their name. Usernames are case-sensitive so make sure to type it exactly as the person has set it in their profile. For common names, add in location details like city to narrow down the results.
Facebook’s search algorithm prioritizes people who are more closely connected to you in results. So you’re more likely to see friends of friends and connections pop up before strangers with the same name. If you still can’t find the profile, try broadening your search by removing filters or keywords.
According to Facebook’s Help Center article, to search by name: “Tap in the top right of Facebook. Enter your friend’s name in the search bar and tap or in the bottom right. Tap PEOPLE at the top.”[1]
Mutual Friends and Connections
One of the easiest ways to find someone’s Facebook profile when you only know their TikTok username is by looking at mutual friends and connections. Facebook shows you a list of mutual friends you share with other people in order to connect you with those in your extended network.
To find mutual friends on Facebook:
- Click on the “Friends” button in the top toolbar and select “See All.”
- Scroll through the list to see if any names look familiar or associated with the person you’re searching for.
- You can also search for specific connections by typing their name in the search bar at the top of the friends list.
If you see mutual friends or connections between your profile and the TikTok user, there’s a good chance their Facebook profile is connected in some way. Those connections likely indicate you are looking at the correct person. Check the mutual friend’s list of friends to see if the TikTok user appears.
Tools like How to Get Mutual Friends on Facebook on the desktop site and mobile app can help you identify shared connections.
Groups and Pages
One way to find someone’s Facebook profile is by joining groups and pages that they are a member of. Both groups and pages allow you to see who else has joined or liked that community.
To find someone this way:
- Search for groups and pages related to the person’s interests, hobbies, school, workplace, etc. For example, if they are a fan of a particular sports team, look for fan groups and pages.
- Browse the member list for each group or page. If it is a large group, you may need to search the member list.
- If you find the person you are looking for in one of these groups or pages, you can view their profile by clicking on their name.
This method works best when you already know some basic information about the person’s interests and affiliations. Joining groups and pages related to their life makes it more likely you will discover their profile. However, it can be time consuming if they are not an active member of many public communities.
For more tips on searching groups and pages, visit Facebook’s Help Center articles: See the members of a Facebook group and Search for a post in a Facebook group.
Reverse Image Search
One way to try finding someone’s Facebook profile when you only have their TikTok handle is by using reverse image search. This allows you to take the profile picture from their TikTok account and search for matching images across the web and social media sites like Facebook.
To do this, first right click on the profile picture on their TikTok page and save or copy the image. Then go to Google Images and click on the camera icon to upload or paste the image for search. Google will scan the web for matching or similar images and return results.
Look through the results to see if the image appears on any Facebook profiles. Matching profile pictures can help you identify the person’s name and Facebook account. However, reverse image search is not 100% accurate, so you may need to verify additional details match between the TikTok and Facebook account such as location, bio info, etc.
There are also Chrome extensions like Search by Image that allow you to easily reverse search images across multiple sites including Facebook. While not guaranteed, reverse image search can be a useful starting point to finding someone’s Facebook profile from their TikTok picture.
Facebook Search Bar
The Facebook search bar allows you to use advanced search operators and filters to refine your searches. Here are some tips for searching effectively on Facebook using the search bar:
Use quotes around phrases to search for exact matches:
“John Smith” will return results that contain this exact name.
Exclude words by adding a hyphen before the term:
cat -kitten will search for cat but exclude results with the word kitten.
Search for posts within a specific time frame using daterange:facebookcom/daterange:
facebookcom/daterange:2020-01-01,2021-01-01 will return posts between those dates.
Limit results to specific types of content with type:
cat type:photo will only return cat photos.
Search only within specific friend lists, groups or pages using in:
pizza in:family will search for pizza only among your family list.
So the Facebook search bar allows for powerful filtering of results. See this guide for a full list of operators.
Facebook Graph Search
Facebook Graph Search was a powerful search feature that allowed you to search for specific information about people and interests. For example, you could search for friends of friends who live in a certain city or like a particular music genre. Unfortunately, Facebook disabled Graph Search for regular users in 2019 due to privacy concerns.
When active, Graph Search allowed you to search using filters like location, university, job title, and hobbies. So you could search for “Friends of my friends who live in Los Angeles and like basketball.” This would show results matching those specific criteria. While Graph Search itself no longer works, you can still search for some information like common interests and mutual friends using Facebook’s main search bar.
Facebook Ads
One way to potentially find someone’s Facebook profile is by creating a targeted Facebook ad. Facebook allows advertisers to target ads using detailed criteria such as location, interests, age range, and connections to specific people.
To find someone on Facebook via ads:
- Create a new Facebook ad campaign and select the objective “Reach” to maximize visibility.
- Under “Audience”, target people who live in the general area of the person you are trying to find. You can target a city, state, or custom radius.
- Use any other info you have like age range, interests, school, or workplace to narrow down the target audience.
- Under “Connections”, select “Friends of your customers” and enter the person’s name. This will target people connected to that specific person.
- Run the ad for a short time with a small budget just to see the reach and potential impressions.
- Check the results and see if the person you are searching for engaged with the ad. If so, you can click on their profile from the ads manager.
This technique leverages Facebook’s detailed targeting to essentially reverse search a person based on their connections and demographic info. However it does require running paid ads and may yield limited results depending on how much info you have to go on.

Outside Tools
There are a number of external tools and websites that can be used to match someone’s TikTok account with their Facebook account. Some popular options include:
Spokeo (https://www.spokeo.com/) – This is a people search engine that scours public records and social media profiles. You can search by name and location to see if someone’s TikTok and Facebook accounts are linked or associated with the same email addresses or phone numbers.
Social Searcher (https://www.social-searcher.com/) – This tool aggregates social media profiles from multiple networks. Enter someone’s name and it will show you any associated Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and other profiles.
Pipl (https://pipl.com/) – Similar to Spokeo, this is another people search engine that compiles data from public records and social networks. Search for someone by name and location and it can match connected profiles.
These tools rely on finding identifying info that is consistent across someone’s various social media accounts. So even without being Facebook friends, if someone uses the same name, email, phone number, etc. on both platforms, these sites can find the connections.
Contact TikTok Support
If you are still unable to locate the person’s Facebook account after trying all other options, you can reach out to TikTok’s support team for additional help. TikTok may be able to use the person’s email address or phone number from their TikTok account to identify associated social media profiles.
To contact TikTok support:
- Open the TikTok app and tap your profile icon in the bottom right.
- Go to the Settings and Privacy menu.
- Tap Support.
- Tap Contact Us and select the issue you need help with.
- Complete the support request form with details about the person’s TikTok username and your goal of finding any associated Facebook account.
Keep in mind that TikTok may not be able to share private account information due to privacy restrictions. But their support team may still provide guidance on additional ways to try finding the person’s profiles across platforms.
